Frame the light
Orient openings, courtyards and thresholds so daylight becomes an active part of the spatial experience.
I'm Maya Rao, an architect shaping civic, cultural and hospitality spaces around daylight, movement and human rhythm. AtriumAurora is my visual language: warm, structural, luminous.
The work starts with reading a site: its light, edges, public life, climate and existing structure. From there, I build spatial narratives that are practical enough to construct and memorable enough to inhabit.

Circulation becomes a sequence of compression, release, pause and discovery rather than a leftover corridor.
Stone, brick, timber, concrete and metal are composed for touch, weathering and long-term character.
Rather than generic percentage bars, capability appears as architectural instruments: each one is a layer in the design process.
Spatial narratives, massing studies, precedent research and design direction.
Detail development, consultant coordination, material logic and constructability.
Existing-building analysis, sensitive interventions and new life for inherited structures.
Atmospheric diagrams, material studies and presentation systems that explain the idea quickly.
Climate response, landscape relationships, pedestrian experience and public thresholds.
Design reviews, stakeholder communication, team direction and decisions under constraint.
A cinematic edit of projects where light, sequence and the existing fabric of a place shaped the final architecture.
A compact urban residence organized around a planted thermal courtyard. Deep reveals, brick screens and shaded terraces turn the section into the project's environmental engine.
Retained a century-old industrial shell while inserting a luminous public stair and flexible studios.
Rooms, dining and garden spaces arranged as a slow sequence around water and filtered shade.
Selected experience across design studios and independent commissions.
Lead architect for civic, hospitality and residential commissions, coordinating design teams from concept through site delivery.
Developed large-scale residential and adaptive-reuse projects, with a focus on material systems, detailing and client presentations.
Built a foundation in drawing, model-making, competition work and site-responsive design across mixed-use and cultural projects.
